Day 148: August 31st

Not a lot has happened today. Been pretty quiet.

Today's positives:

1: Gracie ran around the house looking for her Grammy this morning after she left for work. She was shouting "Mar Mar"

2: Gracie and I made her a paper crown which she enjoyed sticking things too but refused to wear!

3: James has enjoyed being held by both his grandparents today.

4: Grandpa watched Gracie for me while I took a much needed shower. I think there was bribery with jelly beans going on!

5: James enjoyed home made vegan pizza for dinner and then ate Gracie's dinner as well!

6: Grammy gave Gracie chocolate coconut ice cream. She ate it all up!

Tomorrow is Walmart! Booooo. I hate grocery shopping on holiday weekends.

Day 147: Home Alone

Today's positives:

1: Gracie found a pot of animal crackers I had moved away from James so we could get ready for lunch. I think she saw him reaching for them and decided it would be good to give him one. It was very sweet.

2: James put his arms up for Gracie to pick him up and Gracie didn't notices so he started trying to climb her like a tree! It was quite funny. Gracie was not very impressed.

3: I had to run to the store today, Gracie and James enjoyed riding in a police cart complete with steering wheels.

4: We arrived at the store right at the time my Mum started her lunch brake. Totally by fortunate accident. We had a nice time sitting in the cafeteria eating oreos and chatting. James got him self in a right mess. He looked like he had a chocolate beard.

5: The kids and I had a pretty chilled day. We enjoyed playing with the little people animals and just hanging around the house.

6: Gracie got up after bed time and had a late night bowl of oatmeal, a nice cuddle and a little play on the kindle coloring book app.

Well that's it for today.

Day 146: Its a Tiara?

Today's positives:

1: Okay this morning started out with a sleepy Mummy and some serious confusion. I woke up thinking J was still in bed but apparently I had put him back in the pack n play. So Gracie was sat in front of me and for a few minutes I thought she was James! So I started calling for her... She just kinda blinked at me and said "Hi Mama". Doh! Sleepy mama...

2: My Mum made pancakes for breakfast this morning. They were very tasty. James had blueberry and enjoyed them so much he had two! Gracie had chocolate and banana.

3: James has discovered a place in the hallway where he can play with his shadow. He is quite excited about it.

4: James got to go around the store with Grammy. They seemed to really enjoy each others company.
I also had fun walking around with Gracie showing her things.

5: Gracie did some painting with Grammy. Hello Kitty paintings!!

6: James and I had a lovely sleepy snuggle on the sofa.

We are gonna miss Grammy and Grandpa next week but I am looking forward to seeing Mr. Eriks!
Gracie misses Daddy a lot! Such a Daddies girl :)

Day 145: Cupcakes

Today's positives:

1: Gracie has discovered a love of the phone. She brought it to me several times today and asked to call either Dada or PohPoh (Grandpa). In the end my Mum sent me to my bedroom and she called my cellphone so Gracie could talk to someone lol. Grammy spoils her.

2: James managed to drink with a straw for the first time today.

3: Gracie made cupcakes with Grammy. Here is what Grammy had to tell me about it:

Grammy: Gracie helped me make vegan cupcakes. She (with a little assistance) poured all the liquids into the dry ingredients and held the measuring spoon with me.
Her favorite part was licking the spatula and then re-dipping it in to the mix for more.
She pretty much covered her upper torso in cake batter and because of her attempts to share her spatula licking goodness I was also pretty covered.
She had such a good time it took a lot of convincing to get her to climb down off of the step stool she stood on to help.

I can tell you them cakes were YUMMY!!!!

4: James tried blueberry's today and loved them, both of the kids enjoyed eating grapes and plumbs too.

5: We got to skype with Uncle Paul and Auntie Shahzia.

Well that's all for today. I hear rumors of fort building tomorrow! Fun stuff :)

3: We had to go do some grocery shopping, Gracie walked around the store a little bit. She had a huge smile and obviously felt very proud of her self.

4: Gracie was very excited to see Grandpa when he got home from work. I found her sitting in his lap while he was trying to get on his computer. Very sweet!

5: James has not been feeling very well today but I am very glad his fever broke.

6: Gracie couldn't sleep so she got up and had a piece of marmite toast, which she ate almost all of! Yummy :)

That's it for today. Kinda sleepy and quiet here.
Missing Matt very much!

Glad the flying part is over and we are back in our normal time zone! Will miss all the Dallas folks though.

4: The McNamara's came over to play and say goodbye. James loves his big cousin Cole. He sat with him and climbed up on him. Gracie also had fun with Kali.

5: Gracie and Grandma Jo had fun playing on the ipad together. Gracie now thinks her black plastic dry erase board is an ipad.

6: The kids enjoyed taking a nice bath together. A cap off one of the bottles fell in to the water and James picked it up and tried to take a drink out of it. Gracie looked at him and said "No No No Jay Jay, YUCK!"

7: Gracie had a fun time staying up a little later and playing after James had gone to bed! She was in an excellent mood.

8: I think the hi-lite of the day was getting to talk with Daddy before bedtime! It was lovely :)

Well that's all for now.

We fly back to South Carolina today so will hope to post tonight.

Well that's it for now folks.

Have a fun day!

When the babies woke up they had a snack and each enjoyed unwrapping a little toy I got them. James loved to see out of the window.

5: Auntie Ande came to pick everyone up at the airport. Gracie was happy to be in the car jammin out to music.

6: Both babies went to bed super easy.

Today's positives:

1: When I asked Gracie if she was hungry this morning she shouted "YES" and leaped out of bed. She was quite excited lol.

2: Gracie also enjoyed the freedom of being out of the cart around Walmart. She liked hanging on to the end of the cart while Grammy pushed.

3: James and Grammy convinced me he should be allowed an Oreo. He laughed, smiled and made a huge mess!

4: James has really enjoyed going after the cat. It's surprising how fast he can move.

5: Gracie ate 2 eggs for dinner. She normally hates eggs.

6: James started cruising around the furniture a little bit.

7: Grammy's shower is very gentle so James got to take his first shower. I sat him on the bathmat and let the water splash all over him. I don't think he hated it lol.

I know there are probably a million things I'm leaving out but it's time for me to get some sleep ready for our busy day tomorrow!

Day 137: Gone Fishin

Today we drove from our house to Grammy's! It was raining very hard and we had a few hairy moments but now we are here safe and sound!

Today's positives:

1: Gracie got her first backpack today so she can have her own carry on for the plane. She enjoyed carrying it around! Plus its bright pink so we can't loose her.

2: We had a nice car picnic together somewhere in Georgia.

3: We made it here in one piece!

4: When Grammy picked up James he put his head down and snuggled in. Glad to see his Grammy!

5: Gracie went to bed first try. She is such an easy little dolly!

6: I left James and Grandpa alone for 5 minutes and when I came back they had got themselves in a very wet and soggy mess! Apparently James needed a drink *grin*

Okay I'm super tired! Off to sleep.

Day 136: Goodbye Grandpa Verne

Tomorrow we are going to Grammy and Grandpa's. Then we are headed to Texas to say goodbye to Grandpa Verne.
Our first Christmas in America I was so nervous and worried about fitting in with my new family. Grandpa Verne smiled and chatted with me. He made me feel like I was really part of the family. I was very grateful for his kindness. I am very sad for him to go and my heart is with all those who grieve for him right now.

Today's positives:

1:  My children have been smiling so much today. It's been like tiny little gifts to me.

2: James is so proud of himself standing up. It took a long time to get him to sleep because he wanted to practice his new trick!

3: James had fun playing with the other babies at church today.

4: Gracie continues to be my little dolly. I enjoy her company very much.

Today has been a bit of a strange day. The babies will be going on their first flight this week and getting to meet their Texas family. I am sorry it has to be under these circumstances. Please keep this family in your prayers.

Goodnight all

Day 135: August 18th

Today's positives:

1: We walked the kids down to the playground. Gracie carried the pinwheel Grammy got her. She liked watching it spin and sparkle in the sun.

2: James had a lovely time dancing this afternoon, which I haven't seen him do before. We rocked out to some Third Day!

3: Gracie brought her rocking horse in to the living room and had fun playing on it. She even started shouting "horsey" as she rocked back and forth like a mad woman.

4: While I was making lunch Gracie climbed up on a chair at the breakfast bar. She seemed to enjoy watching me cook and chatting away to me. I think her favorite part was when when I slipped her little treats to eat.

5: James and I cuddled up in the chair and had a lovely half hour nap.

6: I asked Gracie if she wanted a snack and she said "Yes". So I went to rummage in the cupboard. I pulled out the cookies in order to hunt for something behind them but Gracie saw and shouted "YAY COOK" which is what she calls cookies. How could I refuse?

7: Gracie was enjoying her snack and noticed James didn't have any so she asked me "mama, Jay cook?". So I told her "yes" and she ran over to give him one.

I love hearing my little girl starting to put words together!

Day 134: August 17th

Today's positives:

1: While they were in the bath Gracie had a lovely time pouring water out of her toy watering can for James, who equilly enjoyed trying to catch it!

2: We gave the kids pasta with home made marinara sauce for lunch and James couldn't get enough. He kept grabbing handfuls and shoving it in until he was a lovely orange mess.

3: Both the babies had a nice time coloring in. Although James was much happier trying to have a crafty nibble of the crayons. I would say "Don't put that in your mouth Jay Jay" and he would drop it and pick another on up to taste.

4: Daddy took James too the store with him while Gracie took a nap.

5: While I was making dinner I looked up to see both the babies standing at the baby gate, looking to see what was coming to eat! Very cute, (pic below)

6: Gracie has been very pleasant and lovely company today. She is most days but she has been extra happy and smiley! :)

Okay, off to clean up today's mess.

Day 133: Big

Today's positives:

1: Matt went to get James when he woke up this morning and found him standing in his crib! This is the first time he has pulled himself up on the side as far as we know. So today Matt lowered his mattress. I can't believe how big my little guy is getting!

2: This afternoon I was laying down on the bed for a few minutes, Gracie came up to the baby gate and was shouting "Mama Mama", so I said "Are you okay Gracie"... "Yes Mama"... "Do you need me?"... "Yes Mama". So I went out to the hallway and picked her up and she snuggled right in and gave me a lovely cuddle. It's nice to feel so loved :)

3: Gracie sat and put all her shapes through her shape sorter with out any help!

4: James had his first oreo. It was a very messy affair...

5: Gracie can now do a forward roll from standing!! I kinda want to put her in gymnastics.

6: This afternoon the kids kept me company while I cleaned up my room. James sat in his pack n play and played with his toys while Gracie danced to the radio. I love hangin out with my babies :)

It's been quite a day today! Not bad at all :)

Goodnight everyone

3: Gracie enjoyed  the freedom of walking around the store when we went to pick up some stuff this afternoon.

4: We all had a nice lunch together of vegan tacos!

5: Gracie has shown some improvement in her potty training today.

I am just really happy to have my babies. I never knew how much a person was able to love someone until I got married to my best friend and had these beautiful kiddo's.
Thankful and blessed I am indeed!

Day 131: two legs

I have to say that my ears are ringing with the sound of baby greavance. Not to be unpositive (if that's even a word) but I am so totally tired right now all I can do is sit and blink at my screen hoping im typing words!

Matthew has given me somethings he would like to share with the blog today.

Today's positives:

M: After lunch  I was changing James in to clean clothes. When Gracie saw she ran in the bedroom and appeared with a bib and a big proud grin on her face.

S: I caught sight of a spider on our T.V stand today. Normally I am pretty peaceful about bugs and let them go but this particular spider had neon spots on it. Not kidding... So in my panic that it was some crazy poisonous impostor I grabbed the nearst toy and started hitting it. It just so happened to be a little wooden triangle... Anyway, I went to check on dinner and came back to be with the kids and found Gracie attacking the T.V stand with one of her other little wooden shapes. She just looked at me like "what... isn't this how we play this game?". If you want to know how daft you make your self look just sit back and watch your children for a while!

M: Gracie, James and I all snuggled up to watch Lyle the kindly viking.

S: When I took Gracie out of her high chair after dinner I noticed she had some how gotten her hands on a pair of panties and tried to put them on . Only both her legs were in one hole lol. Too cute!

S: Gracie now also takes off her own shoes and puts them away when we get home.

S: the kids and I had a nice walk in the rain to get the mail.

Today has been long! Hope poor James is feeling better tomorrow.

Goodnight all

Day 130: Corn Chowder Quinoa Casserole.

Tonight I made corn chowder quinoa casserole for dinner. It was delicious and my first attempt at cooking from my vegan cookbook.

Today's positives:

1: We started our day off early so it's felt like we had extra hours today!

2: James pulled himself up on the couch twice.

3: We had to go grocery shopping this morning but after that was all done we went out for lunch together. It was the first time we have gone out to eat as a family. Meaning everyone ate something off the menu. We went to Panera Bread. The kids even got a 99c raisin oatmeal cookie to share afterwards. It was nice :)

4: The children have played hard together this afternoon.

5: James went to sleep early because he was so tired so Gracie and I read a couple of books :)

Today has been very busy and the children have been very good to keep up and go with the flow. Hoping tomorrow is more of a fun day!

Goodnight all

Day 129: Soft Kitty

Another pleasant day :)

Today's positives:

1: Today I managed to make it through half the church service. It took James a while to settle but we are getting closer! Gracie had such a good time in her group she cried when it was time to go home. Glad to see she is having fun :)

2: When we got home Gracie went for a nap (2 and a half hours long!) So Daddy and I made lunch and hung out with James. James even had fun trying to do Pilate's with Daddy.

3: When Gracie woke up Matt asked her if she wanted to watch a veggietales, to which she replied "Yess Veggiesss". Matt smiled and said " I love you" and she said "I love you too". It made both of us melt :)

4: As I have said in previous blogs, due to Gracie's very bad eczema problem we have been trying out being vegan. So far it seems to have helped a lot. Unfortunately Gracie is not overly fond of coconut or almond milk so I have been looking for ways to sneaky it in. This evening she had a strawberry/banana smoothie which she actually finished. I am thinking of having a go at making ice cream as the coconut ice cream is incredibly over priced! Very glad to have found one more way to meet her needed milk quota.

5: It took a very long time to get James to sleep tonight, I think the poor little fella has teeth bothering him but once he was finally down Gracie and I managed to keep our Sunday night date! We ate toast and read 2 books. Brown bear of course and a book of nursery rhymes. I am going to really start looking forward to girl time each week.

Well today has been full and I think tomorrow promises to be the same way... Grocery shopping to tackle!

Goodnight all

Day 128: Chubby Bunny

Today has been a great day :)

Today's positives:

1: I made an apple cake last night and Matthew told me Gracie and James both ate it up for breakfast! Nice way to sneaky in some fruit ;)

2: It was fun to watch Gracie playing with her toy truck this morning, complete with sound effects! I guess it still surprises me when she plays with toys in the way they were designed for. Just another sign she is growing up.

3: I was in the kitchen dishing out dinner when I spied out of the corner of my eye little James wiggling around between the arm chair and the sofa. This is where we keep the laptop so I assumed he was going after that. Gracie had been sitting very quietly also, watching a movie or so I thought. I came in to discover they were sticking post-its all over each other. Upon seeing me enter the room I heard a little "uh oh" out of Gracie as she madly started throwing all the post-its at James as if she could make me think it was all his idea! Had to giggle.

4: James had Shepard's pie for the first time tonight. He got himself in a glorious mess but seemed to enjoy it very much.

5: Tonight we played in the nursery for half an hour after storey time. Gracie and I did lots of nursery rhymes and she also had fun building and knocking over her blocks. James enjoyed climbing all over Barney the lion and giving him many kisses.

6: James and I got to skype with Auntie Sam, Uncle Steve, Chloe and their guests after Chloe's big sweet 16 party.I think he enjoyed seeing everyone :)

Well that's all for tonight folks.

Goodnight

Day 127: Fresh Bread Day

Today has been good! I made a loaf of yummy naughty white bread ( I say naughty cos it should really be whole wheat), and I am currently cooking up a cake I'm going to name apple Frankenstein cake, if it works!
Yum yum!

Today's positives:

1: Gracie emptied the dryer out for me and helped me reload it. I also went in to the hall to discover she had picked up all the dirty laundry on the floor and put it in the basket! She is so helpful. Also I did not ask her to do any of this!

2: We read the storey of Rip Van Winkle.

3: Gracie brought her little people animals out in to the living room and both her and James enjoyed playing with them this afternoon.

4: Matt put on Sheer Luck Holmes. Not my favorite veggietale but not bad!

5: Gracie enjoyed dancing to Keith Urban.

6: I gave both kids hummus and flat bread for dinner, which they have had before but they seemed to really enjoy it today.

7: James has been in a very cuddly mood which I'm trying to soak up.

Well that's all for now folks. Wish my cake luck!

Goodnight

Day 126: It's Ma Birthday

I would like to thank my lovely little family for making my birthday such a special and relaxed day. Thank you Mr. Eriks for spoiling me :)

Today's positives:

1: We had a birthday oreo for breakfast. Gracie couldn't quite believe her luck.

2: We watched my favorite Veggietale, Esther.

3: James stood up and was holding on to his walker. I am sure he is wanting to keep up with Gracie.

4: Gracie saw Matt pouring a glass of coke and started pointing and saying "uck, uck". She also now calls cookies "cooks"

5: I am so impressed with how well James has taken to solid solids. Today he had brown rice with chopped stir fry veggies :)

6: Gracie helped me unload and load the dryer and also picked up her toys. She is very good about helping with chores.

7: James had fun exploring his little cousin L. It's cute to see him give baby kisses and try to interact. Gracie also enjoyed the company of her big cousins.

8: Gracie colored me a lovely picture for my birthday :)

I really must start keeping a list through the day of everything that happens. I hate not being able to remember exactly what happened but knowing there was so much more to say!

Goodnight all

Day 125: Roasted Veggies

Teething continues... Poor James. Need I say more?

Today's positive:

1: James and Daddy went to Walmart for me this afternoon, Gracie and I got to stay home and play. We stacked up her blocks which she enjoyed knocking over. She also showed me her favorite little dinosaur toy. A gift from Aunti Sami. She loves to make it sing the alphabet and she has learned to sing parts of it as well. I think her favorite part is "LMNOP".

2: My apologies in advance if this is a little TMI but remember this blog is for my children and this was too funny to leave out. I had just taken Gracie off of the toilet and had to quickly go myself. When I was finished Gracie greeted me with a big smile, round of applause and "YAY". Just like I do for her when she is done.

3: I made roasted veggies for dinner. James loved them, he ate all of his, some of mine and some of his sisters!

4: I have a giant stuffed lion from my childhood that I have given to my children. For those of my family who might remember, Barney :). It felt very special this evening to be sitting against something that was so special to me as a child snuggled up to my babies reading them their bedtime story.

5: It was nice to walk Daddy to work this evening. Glad the rain let up long enough to do so!

6: I stood James up and put his hands on the sofa and he managed to stand without being held for quite a while.

There have been quite a few lovely things today!

Goodnight all

Day 124: Nationial Night Out

Today we got to hang out with cousins A, G, and L at National Night Out. We got lots of fun stuff like plastic hard hats and police badges.

Today's Positives:

1. Gracie and James were up early this morning so we all lounged around and watched Veggietales together. Both the kids seemed to really love it.

2. While James was napping I let Gracie watch Lyle the Kindly Viking. When James got up she started patting the seat next to her and calling for James to sit next to her.

3. Sophie and Gracie walked to get the mail together and had a great time. Gracie carried the umbrella.

4. James got to play in Cousin L's Exersoucer and he loved it.

5. James crawled over to me while I was laying on the floor with him and he used me to pull himself up. He seems to be doing something new everyday, I can't believe how fast it is going.

6. We are finding two little teeth marks in all the soft books, it seems James is enjoying his new teeth!

7. Gracie got a free cherry Italian Ice at the National Night Out. She got almost as much on her as she ate. She had a brilliant time with it though!

Well that's about it for today.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Day 122: Girls Night

I really love Sunday! The weekend is just beginning for us!

Today's positives:

1: This morning we went to a different church. They had so many children Gracie and Jame's age. Gracie got to play and have a puppet show and I saw her having so much fun. James on the other hand is having a difficult time teething and wanted me to sit and cuddle with him. He did play with the other babies for a little while. I am hoping to take them again next week.

2: We came home and made veggie soft shell taco's. James just had blended veggies but he seemed pretty happy with it. Gracie actually ate her fillings inside of the wrap and finished it all up.

3: James went down for a nap so Matt, Gracie and I all snuggled up together for a little while.

4: We had to run to Walgreen's to get James some teething meds. Gracie decided to stand on the end of the cart and hang on like a spider monkey. She thought this was very fun and looked so big. She only hopped off to pick up the medicine that James threw out of the cart and when I took her down the candy isle. She picked Starburst which is also a first!

5: When we got home James and Gracie shared a banana and apple sauce.

6: I snuggled James to sleep. We just put a coffee table behind the big arm chair and Gracie likes to stand on it and make faces at James to make him laugh. Needless to say it took a while to get him to sleep.

7: When James went to bed Gracie and I finally got our long awaited for Girls Night. We played blocks for a few minutes then I made her some toast with marmite on. Auntie Elizabeth left some new veggietales for us so we put them on and she ate her candy and had chocolate milk, which she thought was a big treat!! Then we cuddled up and watched cartoons until she fell asleep in my arms. It was kind of a pity to wake her up but after all that sugar she had to brush her teeth but she gave me the biggest smile. As I carried her to bed she put her head on my shoulder and snuggled in which she hasn't done in a very long time. Then I tucked her in and we said goodnight prayers. I think this is just what we have been needing. I am going to aim for this atleast once a week if not more. I miss one on one time with my little girl. She is so much fun and I love her so very much.

Day 121: Farmers Market

Today has been quite a busy day.

Today's positives:

1: We started off with a visit to the grocery store. I got to snuggle James in the Moby which is always a pleasure.

2: This afternoon we got Gracie a cookie which she gobbled up with a huge grin. I love to see her big chocolatey smile.

3: We went to the farmers market by our house to get fresh veggies. Yum Yum!

4:  It finally occurred to me that I needed to get James a toothbrush. Doh! Can't believe I didn't think of that sooner. First tooth brushing went very well. I think it felt nice on his gums. He gave me a big smile.

5: It has been nice to have Gracie and James eating dinner together. James now eats the same things we do and I blend it depending on how gumable it is. Tonight he had blended pasta in red sauce with veggies. He actually ate more than his sister!

Got another busy day ahead tomorrow. Gonna go clean up my house a little!

Day 120: Sad Face

It was sad to say goodbye to our family this morning. We wish them safe travels on their long drive home and a smooth transition in their upcoming across country move.

Today's positives:

1: James had his first plate of solid food. Meaning nothing mashed or strained. He had a slice of bread with sunflower spread, half a banana and some baby crackers. Gracie sat next to him eating her lunch. I feel like my babies are growing up so fast.

2: Gracie thought it was great to tickle me while I was laying on the couch... I love hearing her laugh so much.

3: We watched Jonah the Veggietales version.

4: I put Gracie down for a nap and when I went to check on her she was asleep on the floor curled up in front of the window. No idea why!

5: Me and the kiddo's went for a nice walk up and down the complex!

6: We got to skype with Grammy and Great Grandma.

7: Gracie and James enjoyed sitting next to each other and eating dinner. It was super cute. Even if they did decide each others food looked better than their own. :)

Well they are both asleep so I think it's time to chill out for a bit before I get an early night.

Tomorrow we are going to check out the farmers market!

Day 119: Thankful Thursday

Okay, Elizabeth does something called thankful Thursday for her blog so tonight I am going to give it a go!
Tomorrow the Eriks-Buker clan are heading back to Cleveland so blogs should resume as normal. I am going to miss them all so very much :(

Oh oh and I do want to mention that today I have made, Vegan banana bread, Vegan "Sour cream", Salsa leftover soup and YUMMY build your own baked potato's!

Anyway,

Today I am thankful for:

1: The wonderful company of family.

2: A true sister in Elizabeth.

3: Lot's of cousins for my babies to grow up with.

4: A husband who loves me and shares the load.

5: A God who is patient and forgiving.

6: Our new vegan diet that has really started to clear up both my babies horrible eczema.

I think there are so many other things I could think of but I will leave it there. Gonna go make the most of the lovely people staying with us.

Goodnight all

Day 118: August 1st

Yesterday I didn't get to spend much time with Gracie as she was with her Daddy most of the day but he did tell me she was very good and they had a nice time together.

James went with Auntie Elizabeth, Cousin N and me. We went to Family Christian Bookstore and then for lunch. James leaned back in his high chair and munched on a bit of bread. He loved to smile at anyone who walked past.

It was such a busy day that it makes my kind of blogging a little difficult. I didn't want to miss a day though.
So for this blog I am just going to post some pictures from the past couple of weeks. Enjoy!
